Downtown Properties Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Downtown Properties on Hornby Street, you immediately get that “you’re in the thick of it” feeling that makes Vancouver so appealing. This four-star property sits right where all the action happens — I mean, you literally can’t get more central than this. The building has that polished urban vibe without being intimidating, and honestly, the location alone had me sold before I even stepped inside. There’s something reassuring about staying somewhere that feels like the genuine heart of the city rather than some tourist bubble.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re actually in downtown Vancouver, not just near it. Step outside and you’ve got Coal Harbour’s waterfront literally minutes away, plus all those great restaurants and shops that locals actually use. The couples who stay here clearly get it (they rate the location nearly perfect), and I can see why. You can walk to Canada Place, hit up Robson Street for shopping, or just wander toward English Bay when you need some ocean air. Having private parking on-site is honestly a game-changer too — anyone who’s tried to park downtown Vancouver knows what a relief that is.

The Experience

What strikes me about Downtown Properties is how it manages to feel both upscale and approachable at the same time. The service has that refined Vancouver hospitality — professional but not stuffy, you know? The staff actually seems to know the neighborhood well, which makes a difference when you’re asking for recommendations. The whole place has this understated elegance that fits perfectly with Vancouver’s vibe — polished without being pretentious. Every interaction reflects a commitment to making your stay memorable and comfortable.

Practical Comforts

The rooms strike that sweet spot between comfort and style that you hope for but don’t always get. Everything feels thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together, and the amenities actually work the way they’re supposed to. I particularly appreciated how quiet it stays despite being right downtown — good windows make all the difference. The Wi-Fi is solid (always a concern when you’re traveling), and there are those little touches that show someone’s paying attention to what guests actually need. The apartment-style suites offer flexibility for extended stays.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.3 rating isn’t just numbers — it reflects what happens when a hotel gets the fundamentals right. You’re staying somewhere that puts you at the center of everything Vancouver has to offer, with the kind of service and comfort that makes the whole trip smoother. Whether you’re here for business meetings downtown or planning to explore the city’s neighborhoods, this location works. It’s the kind of place where you spend less time figuring out logistics and more time actually enjoying Vancouver, which is exactly what you want from a city hotel. The on-site kitchen facilities in select suites add another layer of convenience for those seeking a home-away-from-home experience.

Exploring Vancouver layers coastal mist, snow-dusted peaks, and neon-lit ramen alleys.

Reviews of Downtown Properties

  • Vesga from Colombia – 9 January 2025 (10/10)

Muy cerca a todos los sitios de interés

  • Karen from United States – 8 August 2024 (9/10)

    Great location with beautiful views.

What could be improved: It was hot but to be fair it was unusually hot there this summer. The one ac did quite oil the entire apartment.

  • Ceri from United Kingdom – 9 July 2024 (8/10)

    self catering appt, good location

What could be improved: but was noisy for sirens. But what I really didn't like was Booking.com incompetence on refund for residence who cancelled with short notice out of the blue. From there is largely went pear shape for how booking.com offers customer service, or where "customer service goes to die",. They were total hassle, slow and incompetent to refund original booking and are still hanging on to funds for refund on difference on new property. I sent all they required 17.6. when chased 9.7.24 they first said not received, then said no attachment of invoice, in-spite of them knowing the amount of difference and probably had their commission and never chased back to say no attachment, which is proven was attached. It's a painful experience to deal with them. Which included cutting me off after a 20 mins delay to get through, then 21 mins of largely wasted time to speak to Zoe, who wasn't too clever and then no promised email from her to confirm next steps, in-spite of doing what was asked. Lost any confidence had in Booking.com, pity any retailer using them, they spoil your outcomes

  • Laia from Spain – 7 December 2023 (10/10)

What could be improved: It was all good

  • Pat from United Kingdom – 31 August 2023 (9/10)

    New, clean, convenient

What could be improved: All good

  • Siu from Hong Kong – 27 August 2023 (1/10)

    Location was good and convenient

What could be improved: The property is very close tone of the local hospital and created a lot of noise with the siren even in the middle of the night

  • Savio from Australia – 10 August 2023 (8/10)

What could be improved: The aircon could be a bit quieter. It shuts off on reaching the set temperature but when it starts again its a huge noise & quite annoying at nighttime

  • Elenita from Australia – 27 May 2023 (9/10)

Modern, furnishings are nice and colour coordinated. Clean and so nice. Comfortable.

    What could be improved: Nothing.
