Walking into The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver, you immediately understand why this four-star hotel has such a devoted following. The lobby feels sophisticated without being stuffy, and honestly, the views hit you right away — you’re literally steps from the seawall with Coal Harbour stretching out in front of you. I mean, when couples rate the location 9.6 out of 10, you know something special is happening here.

Location & Neighborhood

Vancouver has plenty of hotels, but this one sits in what locals call the sweet spot. You’re in Coal Harbour, which means Stanley Park is your backyard (seriously, it’s a two-minute walk), but you’re also close enough to downtown that grabbing dinner or catching a show doesn’t require planning. The seawall runs right past the hotel — I’ve seen guests step out in their running gear and disappear for hours along the waterfront path. Parking is available on-site too, which actually matters more than you’d think in this part of the city.

The Room Experience

The beds here have developed quite a reputation, and after sleeping in one, I get it. There’s something about the Westin’s signature bedding that just works — you sink in but don’t feel swallowed up. Most room categories face the water, and waking up to views of the North Shore mountains reflected in the harbour never gets old. The rooms feel spacious by Vancouver standards, with that clean, modern aesthetic Westin does well, though some of the bathrooms show their age a bit.

Dining & Amenities

Breakfast here covers all the bases — they’ve got continental options, but also vegetarian, vegan, halal, and gluten-free choices laid out buffet-style. The restaurant overlooks the water, which makes even a simple morning coffee feel like an event. You know what surprised me? How well they handle dietary restrictions without making it feel like an afterthought. The fitness center and pool area are solid, nothing groundbreaking, but they face the harbour so you’re not staring at a wall while on the treadmill.

Why Guests Love It

This hotel works because it nails the fundamentals while giving you that “only in Vancouver” experience. You can walk to Stanley Park, cycle the seawall, grab a seaplane to Victoria, or just sit on the patio and watch the harbour traffic — all without feeling like you’re missing out on the city itself. The staff seems to genuinely know the area, which helps when you’re trying to figure out whether to take the SkyTrain or just walk somewhere. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but when you’re this close to both nature and urban Vancouver, flashy becomes less important than simply being in the right spot.

  Great Hotel, gorgeous property. We loved the location close enough to walk to many restaurants, and sights but still quiet. The room met expectations for a Westin property, it was very clean, every staff member we encountered was very friendly. Shout out to Alexander at our check-in, he was very welcoming and very helpful. We ate breakfast at the restaurant one morning, the food was exceptionally good for a hotel. It was a pricey meal but that was expected from a hotel, the quality of the food was unexpected. We would definitely return.

  This is my new destination when traveling to Vancouver. Location was central to everything. Safe. I was able to walk and get my 10K steps in everyday. Also I liked that the hotel had free bikes as well.

  Wonderful location with spectacular views! Being by the water you can enjoy the best of Vancouver by opening the window, or walking along the water's edge.

  Location was perfect and the staff were very attentive, friendly and accommodating. I arrived early and was travelling alone – the check-in staff were super friendly and were able to find me a room that was ready earlier than check-in time. I was very appreciative of this as I could then settle in and thoroughly enjoy my day in Vancouver. The staff in the cocktail lounge were also super friendly and I had a lovely time reading, sipping cocktails and snacking on delicious finger food – all on my own. Highly recommend this hotel and will return when next in Vancouver.
