Century Plaza Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Century Plaza Hotel, you immediately get that classic downtown Vancouver vibe — it’s not trying to be flashy, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about the place. The lobby has this comfortable, lived-in feeling that makes you think they’ve been doing hospitality right for years. I mean, when you’re right on Burrard Street in the heart of the city, you could easily go for sterile and corporate, but they’ve managed to keep things warm and approachable instead.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is probably the hotel’s biggest win — and couples seem to agree, rating it 9.2 for romantic getaways. You’re literally steps from some of Vancouver’s best shopping and dining, plus you can walk to the seawall without breaking a sweat. What I love is that you’re close enough to everything that matters (English Bay, Robson Street, the business district) but far enough from the real tourist chaos that you can actually get some peace. The Canada Line is right there too, so getting to the airport or Richmond is actually pretty painless.
The Room Experience
The rooms at this three-star property are what I’d call smartly designed — they’re not huge, but everything has its place and the layout just works. You know what impressed me? The attention to practical details like decent lighting for reading and enough outlets where you actually need them. The beds are comfortable without being overly fancy, and the bathrooms are clean and functional. Sure, you’re not getting marble countertops or rain showers, but for the price point, it’s exactly what you’d hope for in downtown Vancouver.
Breakfast & Practical Perks
The breakfast setup is pretty solid — they offer continental, American, and grab-and-go options, which honestly covers most travel situations. I appreciate that they recognize some people want to sit down with a proper meal while others need to dash out for early meetings or sightseeing. The grab-and-go option is particularly smart in a city like Vancouver where you might want to take your coffee down to the waterfront. Plus, they have parking available, which anyone who’s tried to find a spot downtown will tell you is worth its weight in gold.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Century Plaza Hotel apart is how it balances being right in the thick of things without feeling overwhelming. It’s the kind of place where business travelers feel comfortable but couples don’t feel like they’re staying in a corporate box. The staff seems to genuinely know the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward the good coffee shops locals actually use, not just the tourist spots. For a three-star hotel in one of Canada’s most expensive cities, it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Hotels in Vancouver hug seawall trails, mountain vistas, and craft breweries perfuming Granville Island.

Isobel from United Kingdom (9/10)
This was a studio apartment on an upper floor in the main hotel. With 40 square metres, two double beds, a comfy sofa and a fully equipped kitchen/dining area it was a home from home. As a bonus there was excellent room service with great food. The room is rated for 4 adults and 2 children, but I think that might get a little claustraphobic…….
