White House Overview
First Impressions
The White House sits quietly in Vancouver’s Dunbar neighborhood, and honestly, the name fits perfectly — it’s this clean, understated four-star property that doesn’t try too hard to impress you. When I first pulled up, I was struck by how peaceful everything felt, especially considering you’re still well within the city limits. The fact that there’s parking right on site is actually a huge deal here — anyone who’s tried to find a spot in Vancouver knows what I mean.
The Dunbar Advantage
You know what I love about this location? It’s got that residential Vancouver vibe without being stuck in the middle of nowhere. Dunbar is one of those neighborhoods where locals actually live, so you’ll find proper coffee shops and grocery stores within walking distance, not just tourist traps. The area feels safe and walkable, which explains why couples rate the location so highly — there’s something romantic about strolling these tree-lined streets in the evening. Plus, you’re close enough to the beaches along the west side that a quick drive gets you to some genuinely beautiful waterfront spots.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run four-star place — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without being flashy. The beds are actually good quality (I’m picky about this), and the windows let in plenty of natural light during the day. What impressed me most was the attention to small details — proper blackout curtains, enough outlets near the bed, and a bathroom that doesn’t feel cramped. It’s clear they’ve thought about what business travelers and couples actually need, rather than just throwing in random amenities.
Practical Perks
Here’s where the White House really shines — it’s the little things that make your stay smoother. That free parking I mentioned? It’s not some tiny cramped lot where you’re worried about door dings. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood well, so when you ask for restaurant recommendations, you get actual local spots rather than the usual tourist suggestions. The whole operation feels efficiently run without being impersonal, which is honestly refreshing after staying at some of the larger chain hotels in downtown Vancouver.
Why Guests Love It
I think the 9.3 rating really comes down to expectations versus reality — this place delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. Couples especially seem to appreciate the quieter setting and the fact that you can actually have a conversation in the lobby without shouting over crowds. The Dunbar location gives you that authentic Vancouver residential experience while still being close enough to downtown and the airport that you’re not spending half your day in transit. It’s one of those hotels where everything just works the way it should, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Vancouver hotels keep guests close to Stanley Park totems, seaplane terminals, and designer boutiques on Robson.

Excellent accommodation, spotlessly clean, just off Main Street. Very responsive to messages. We would definitely return

My stay was September 6-9 for the P!nk concert and some tourism. I loved everything about this place. From the ease of contact with the host, easy check in, the lush garden, the beautiful modern clean suite, all appliances, all the supplies needed in a full kitchen, plenty of closet space, comfortable king size bed, great lighting, and the feeling of a safe secure unit in a very nice neighbourhood.
I am a 5-10km a day walker/hiker, and this neighbourhood was perfect. From the corner of Blenheim and W 41 (just down the hill), I could go in all four directions to find beautiful treed streets, parks, grocery shopping, and any other shops, restaurants, and services one may need. It was easy to use transit, and an Uber would arrive within 5-10 minutes.Erik from Netherlands (10/10)

Great location, near lots of restaurants and shops. The house was very spacious, nicely decorated, and very clean. I rate this 5 stars and would definitely stay there again. The host and her son were very helpful, accommodating, and
very easy to get hold of. On my next vacation to Vancouver I would definitely stay there again!Karen from Canada (10/10)

Dory was an excellent and super lovely host. She made it possible for us to check in 2 hours early and gave us the key herself. On departure, she organized an Uber for us to the airport.
We stayed in the ground and 1st floor apartment, it is huge and the facilities are top notch. Only the mattress of the bed was too hard for us, but that's a matter of taste.
The house also has an apartment in the basement, that is connected to the upper apartment via a staircase, so you could occasionally hear the guests staying there, but that didn't bother us.
The location of the house is wonderfully quiet in a nice suburb. Two different bus stops are very close by (5 minutes walk each), so you can easily take the bus to the downtown area. Grocery shopping is also within walking distance.
