The Altitude, luxury at its best Overview

First Impressions

When I first walked into The Altitude, luxury at its best, I’ll be honest — the name made me chuckle a bit, but the views from the 17th floor quickly shut me up. This four-star high-rise apartment sits right in the heart of Vancouver‘s downtown core, and you know what? The location really does live up to that slightly over-the-top name. From Keefer Place, you’re literally steps away from everything that makes Vancouver tick — Gastown’s cobblestone charm, the bustling energy of Chinatown, and those waterfront views that locals never get tired of.

The Space

The room itself feels more like a proper city pad than your typical hotel setup. I mean, there’s a full kitchen with everything you’d actually need if you wanted to cook (which, honestly, I did a couple times because the local markets are so tempting). The floor-to-ceiling windows frame the city beautifully — during my stay, I found myself just standing there with my morning coffee, watching the harbor come alive. The furnishings strike that sweet spot between modern and comfortable, though I’d say it leans more toward practical elegance than flashy style.

Location Perks

Here’s what I really appreciated — you can walk to Stadium-Chinatown SkyTrain station in about three minutes, which opens up the entire city without dealing with Vancouver’s notorious parking situation. Though actually, if you do have a car, they’ve got free private parking on-site, which is honestly a bit of a miracle in this part of downtown. The building sits in this interesting pocket where Chinatown meets the newer developments, so you get authentic dim sum spots alongside trendy coffee roasters all within the same block.

Neighborhood Feel

What struck me most was how the area changes throughout the day. Mornings bring the commuter rush and the scent of fresh pastries from nearby bakeries, while evenings transform the streets into this vibrant mix of locals heading to dinner and tourists exploring Gastown’s galleries. I spent one afternoon just wandering the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, which is practically around the corner, and another evening checking out the craft cocktail scene that’s been quietly growing in this part of town. The waterfront seawall is maybe a ten-minute walk, perfect for those Vancouver sunset strolls everyone talks about.

Why Guests Love It

I can see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something romantic about having your own little urban retreat with those sweeping city views, plus the freedom to grab fresh ingredients from Chinatown’s markets and cook together. The space feels private and residential, but you’re still plugged into all the urban energy Vancouver offers. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with a fancy lobby or concierge service, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want — a comfortable, well-located base that lets the city itself be the main attraction.

Apartments in Vancouver suit digital creatives with glass-walled lofts, cowork pods, and bike storage on the seawall.

  • Lara from Canada (8/10)

The location was great for us. My sister had to see the doctors at the footbridge clinic. The views were great. Clean and tidy. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. The parkade was huge and a bit confusing.

  • Carol from United States (8/10)

The location is super. Close to everything with cafes right downstairs and the city view is fantastic.

  • Sarah from Switzerland (5/10)

The apartment is ok but it is not high "end luxury" even if efforts has been made. Scratches on the floor, insufficient portable air con. The terrace table does not know how a sponge looks like. Nevertheless Hugo is nice and reacts rapidly to emails. We could enter the apartment early in the morning which we really appreciated with two kids and an overnight in the plane behind us. Chinese supermarket and Skytrain station or busses nearby. 20-minute walk to Canada Place.
