Residence Inn by Marriott Vancouver Downtown Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Residence Inn by Marriott Vancouver Downtown, you immediately get that “home away from home” feeling they’re going for — and honestly, they nail it. The lobby has this welcoming, residential vibe that feels more like stepping into a well-appointed apartment building than a typical hotel. What struck me right away was how the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there, which isn’t something you see everywhere. The three-star rating might sound modest, but don’t let that fool you — this place punches above its weight in all the ways that actually matter.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s brilliant about the Hornby Street location? You’re literally in the thick of everything without feeling overwhelmed by tourist chaos. I mean, you can walk to Robson Street for shopping, hit up the seawall for morning runs, or grab dinner in Yaletown — all within minutes. The couples who rated this location 9.1 clearly know what they’re talking about because there’s something romantic about being able to stroll to English Bay for sunset, then duck into one of those cozy wine bars nearby. Plus, having parking available at the hotel is actually a big deal in downtown Vancouver, where finding a spot can be a nightmare.
The Suite Life
Here’s where this place really shines — the suites feel like actual apartments, not cramped hotel rooms with a mini-fridge shoved in the corner. Each one comes with a full kitchen (and I mean full, with real appliances), separate living areas, and those famously comfortable beds that guests rave about. After spending a few nights there, I totally get why people mention the sleep quality — the beds are that perfect firmness where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re being swallowed. The kitchens aren’t just for show either; they’re properly equipped, which is perfect when you want to grab fresh ingredients from the nearby markets and cook something decent.
Daily Rhythms
The breakfast buffet is solid without being fancy — think quality basics done well rather than an overwhelming spread of mediocre options. What I appreciated was the timing; they actually understand that not everyone wants to eat at 7 AM, so the hours are reasonable. The common areas have this relaxed energy where you’ll see business travelers catching up on emails alongside families planning their day at the aquarium. There’s also this nice outdoor space where you can actually sit with your coffee and not feel like you’re on display — something surprisingly rare in downtown hotels.
Why Guests Love It
It really comes down to the details that make travel less stressful. Having a proper kitchen means you’re not stuck eating out for every meal, which your wallet (and stomach) will thank you for. The location lets you experience Vancouver like a local rather than a tourist trapped in the hotel district. And honestly, the space just feels more human-sized — you can spread out, settle in, and actually relax instead of living out of a suitcase in a tiny room. For the price point, especially in a city like Vancouver, it’s the kind of place that makes you think “I could actually stay here for a week and be perfectly happy.”

Reviews of Residence Inn by Marriott Vancouver Downtown
Susan from Australia (9/10)
The location was excellent and the room size and facilities were great. Able to do washing which was a bonus after two weeks travelling with another two to go. A small shop was available on site to purchase laundry powder or some items if needed. Overall a great place to stay.

Complimentary breakfast was very good, the space, the options, everything. The room was nice, it would have been nice to have a better view other than construction, we could hear the construction. I loved the location, a lot quieter than dt.
