You’re actually pretty close to some interesting spots — the PNE grounds are nearby, and you can get downtown without too much hassle. The area has been changing over the years, with new businesses popping up alongside the old-school establishments. Just keep your street smarts about you, especially at night, but during the day it’s perfectly fine to wander around.

What You’re Getting

The room I stayed in was clean and functional — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly. The beds are comfortable enough, and you know what, sometimes that’s all you really need after a long day exploring the city. The staff here actually seem to care about the place, which makes a difference. One thing that really stood out was the free parking — and if you’ve ever tried to park in Vancouver, you’ll know that’s worth its weight in gold.

That parking situation alone saves you a ton of money and headaches. Most places in Vancouver will charge you an arm and a leg just to leave your car overnight, so having that sorted is genuinely helpful. The hotel also has this old-school charm where people actually talk to each other — the front desk folks know the area well and can point you toward decent food or tell you which bus to catch. There’s a restaurant on-site too, though I’d probably explore the neighborhood for dinner options.

If you want marble bathrooms and concierge service, look elsewhere. But if you want a clean, comfortable place to stay with personality and helpful staff, this works really well.   Can’t beat the location and charm of the space. Considering how many places are disappearing in Vancouver this is a godsend, best price you can get anywhere and the location is fantastic for if you have an event in the area. Even though the area may seem a bit questionable, I assure you it’s safe there at night if a bit noisy especially if you’re with a group. Awesome events and also liquor store in the building. Staff is always always amazing.

  Terrific staff. Attached taproom and restaurant were both fabulous. Love the mid-century decor, woodwork, and feel. Neighborhood contains many craft breweries. Luggage storage was safe and very helpful as our cruise ship arrival was very early morning. Discovered on arrival that they're pet friendly, which is a huge bonus.

  A bit out of town but it was interesting walking to town passed the down and outs that occupy the area closer to town east of gas town. The staff at the bar were very friendly and the food was good value.
