Granville Island Hotel Overview
First Impressions
The Granville Island Hotel sits right in the heart of one of Vancouver’s most vibrant neighborhoods, and honestly, you can’t ask for a better spot. This three-star property feels more intimate than your typical downtown hotel — it’s got that boutique vibe without the pretentious attitude. The moment you walk in, you realize this place gets it right by keeping things comfortable and unpretentious while still feeling polished.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about Granville Island — it’s not actually an island anymore, but a peninsula packed with artisan shops, the famous public market, and some of the city’s best breweries. You’re literally steps away from the market where locals grab their morning coffee and tourists hunt for maple syrup. The location is particularly magical for couples (they consistently rate it nearly perfect), and I can see why. You can stroll along the waterfront, catch a show at one of the theaters, or just people-watch from the many patios. Plus, having private parking here is actually a big deal — trust me, you don’t want to be circling the island looking for a spot during peak season.
The Rooms
The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully designed with a clean, modern aesthetic that doesn’t try too hard. What really stands out are the beds — guests consistently rave about getting an excellent night’s sleep, and after staying here, I totally get it. The mattresses hit that sweet spot between firm and plush, and the linens feel quality without being fussy. Many rooms offer water views, and even if yours doesn’t, the neighborhood energy more than makes up for it. The bathrooms are compact but well-appointed, with good water pressure that actually matters after a day of exploring the city.
Dining & Amenities
While the hotel itself keeps amenities focused and practical, you’re surrounded by incredible dining options. The hotel’s restaurant serves solid Pacific Northwest fare, but honestly, part of the fun is wandering over to the market for fresh seafood or hitting up the Granville Island Brewing taproom just down the street. The staff seems to genuinely know the area — they’ll point you toward the best fish and chips or tell you which artisan stalls are worth your time. It’s that kind of local knowledge that makes a difference when you’re trying to experience Vancouver like someone who actually lives here.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to Granville Island Hotel is the combination of location and comfort without any unnecessary bells and whistles. You’re staying somewhere that feels connected to the real Vancouver — not some sterile downtown tower, but right in the middle of a neighborhood where things are actually happening. The fact that recent guests rate the location so highly tells you everything you need to know. It’s the kind of place where you can walk to dinner, catch some live music, browse local art, and still get a genuinely good night’s sleep. For the price point, it delivers exactly what it promises without trying to be something it’s not.

Matt from United Kingdom (9/10)
It's a beautiful hotel, unfortunately we arrived very late so didn't get to enjoy it but we would have loved to have stayed longer. Would definitely go back. Breakfast in the restaurant attached was one of the best we have ever had (and we've eaten a lot of breakfasts). Location is stunning.
Richard from United Kingdom (8/10)
The location was great for us as we needed to be near Granville Island and it is right on the harbourside path but it might not suit someone who wanted to be in the City Centre.
Margaret from United Kingdom (8/10)
Excellent position for exploring Granville Island. Lovely waterfront position for happy hour. Staff very helpful.
Laura from Canada (9/10)
What we loved the best was the friendly staff, up to date bathrooms and location away from the hub of Vancouver with views of the water and the walkability of Granville Island. It was a very special place.
