EXchange Hotel Vancouver Overview
First Impressions
Walking into EXchange Hotel Vancouver, you immediately get that this is a four-star property that actually gets it right. The lobby has this modern, understated vibe — not trying too hard to impress, but clearly thoughtful about every detail. I mean, you can tell they’ve put real effort into making the space feel both professional and welcoming, which honestly isn’t as common as you’d think in downtown Vancouver. The attention to design extends throughout the property, creating an atmosphere that balances sophistication with genuine hospitality.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about 475 Howe Street — you’re basically in the sweet spot of downtown without being right in the chaos of Granville Street. It’s actually perfect for couples (no surprise the location scores a 9.7 with them), because you can walk to Canada Place in about eight minutes, hit up the shopping on Robson Street, or catch the SkyTrain at Waterfront Station without dealing with a long commute. The parking situation is handled on-site too, which — trust me — is a huge relief in this part of the city where street parking can be a nightmare. This central positioning makes exploring the neighborhood effortless and enjoyable.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that clean, contemporary feel that works whether you’re here for business or just exploring the city. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to fit everything you need without making the space feel cramped — you know how some downtown hotels can feel like you’re living in a closet? Not here. The windows actually open (rare these days), and if you’re facing the right direction, you get some decent city views. Each apartment-style suite is thoughtfully designed for comfort and functionality.
Breakfast & Dining
The American-style breakfast hits all the right notes without being fancy about it. You’ve got your classics — eggs, bacon, pancakes — but they’re done well, not just thrown together. I honestly think this approach works better than hotels that try to do some elaborate international buffet and end up doing everything poorly. The restaurant area has good natural light in the mornings, which makes starting your day there actually pleasant rather than feeling like you’re eating in a basement. The kitchen facilities in select rooms add another layer of convenience for extended stays.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Vancouver has plenty of hotel options, but EXchange Hotel Vancouver sort of nails that balance between being centrally located and not feeling like you’re staying in a tourist trap. The staff seems to actually know the neighborhood — they’ll give you real recommendations, not just point you toward the obvious tourist spots. Plus, with that location score, you’re genuinely within walking distance of most things you’d want to see, whether that’s the seawall, Gastown’s cobblestone streets, or catching a game at Rogers Arena. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere that locals would actually recommend.

The staff are beyond friendly, welcoming and always willing to help. As soon as I entered the hotel, the concierge staff were amazing, the reception staff even more welcoming and even the cleaning staff were so bubbly.
The hotel room itself was superb. As soon as you enter the room there is soothing jazz music that greets you, and I loved the bathroom because of the heated tiles!Mischell from Canada (9/10)
